I am not normally "gushy" but this brought a tear to my eye. How can people just abandoned these little creatures? Wish I could have one but decided a long time ago that not having time to devote to another living creature, it would be cruel.
Lazaros contacted a couple of animal welfare organisations, who advised him to have them humanely destroyed. He really didn't want to do that, of course, as he's only just saved them. It's a real dilemma though, as apparently the "humane" period in which to put them down is before their eyes open, which only leaves him a few days in which to decide whether to go ahead with it. In the meantime, he's put a notice in a pet shop advertising for owners, but he doesn't hold out too much hope of finding anyone anytime soon, as so many people are away at the moment...

I've heard of things like this happening but this was my first direct experience of it. I still find it hard to believe...
