Happy Easter

In Greece, the arrival of Holy Week means it's time for the TV stations to get the Faithful into the appropriate Easter mood by dusting off all the old Biblical epics they can lay their hands on. So far this week we have been treated to films, TV movies and mini series such as Slaves of Babylon, the Passion of Christ, Jesus of Nazareth, The Bible, Quo Vadis, Ben Hur, Cleopatra, Empire, David and Bathsheba, Barrabas, King David, Demetrius and the Gladiators, Mary Mother of God, King of Kings, Spartacus, and The Beginning of Time.

Emily is of course hugely excited by the prospect of wall-to-wall togas, crucifixions, and Christians being fed to lions.

I'm wondering, though, what mad genius of TV scheduling decided that Weekend at Bernie's (Easter Sunday in the primetime slot of 9pm) was the ideal film to mark the Resurrection, and how I'm going to explain its religious significance to Emily...
