Flisvos Park

To Faliro yesterday, with Lazaros & Eleni, Vlassis & Annabel (+ kids), and the great new children's play area behind the Parko Flisvou tram stop. After that, a walk along the seafront to have lunch a pizza restaurant. Then home, where we found that we'd all gone bright red from the sun. Nevi and the girls put some sort of soothing aloe vera gel on their faces and I didn't, because I'm not a 22-year-old hairdresser.* This may have been a mistake, because the girls now look fine and I am a sort of mottled beetroot colour...

* A very useful comment that I pilfered from somewhere (can't remember where) and employ whenever Nevi tries to get me to use girly creams and lotions.

Puppies

Also at Kiourka, very depressingly, Lazaros found six newborn puppies abandoned in a recycling bin. One of them didn't make it, unfortunately.

UPDATE: Despite Lazaros's best efforts, all the puppies died.

Easter at Kiourka

Photo 1: Kid roasting over a fire in the background, kokoretsi in the foreground.
Photo 2: Roast kid ready to eat. I was told off for using a knife and fork to carve myself a helping. (Real men apparently tear off bits of the delicious crispy meat - still blisteringly hot from the fire - and stuff it into their mouths. I did try, but I burnt my fingers. What a wimp, eh?)

Photos by Emily. Thanks as ever to Lazaros and Eleni for their wonderful hospitality.

Easter

It's Easter Day!

The girls managed to stay awake until midnight yesterday, so I took them down to the local church to light their candles. Personally, I was ready to turn in at about half past ten, but this is the biggest day in the Greek Οrthodox calendar and they were both very excited, so it seemed a bit mean not to participate. Anyway, it was the usual deal: everyone gathered around the church and lit one another's candles, fireworks were set off, and Pappous nearly set fire to a small child's hair.

Today we may go to see Lazaros and Eleni at Kiourka. I shall get the kids to take some photos...
